Construction
The EL-2 series is constructed from injection-molded, engineer-grade, 5VA flame retardant thermoplastic. White housing is standard. Also available in black housing.
Illumination
EL-2 emergency lamps use long-lasting, efficient ultra bright white LEDs. Fully adjustable 1.8W LED lamp heads equipped with 12 series-parallel white LEDs each. Lamp heads are on track-and-swivel arrangement allowing lamp heads to be fully adjustable.
Emergency Operation
Upon failure of the normal utility power, an internal solid-state transfer switch automatically provides uninterrupted emergency operation for at least 90 minutes. If remote head capability is used without connecting additional remote heads, the battery can provide a run-time of 180 minutes. The fully automatic solid-state, two-rate charger initiates battery charging to recharge a discharged battery in 24 hours.
Battery - Battery Backup
The EL-2 Emergency Lights series is designed with a maintenance-free 3.6V 900mAh NiCad battery that provides a minimum emergency duration of 90 minutes. Recharge time of the battery is 24 hours. Operational temperature range is 50°F (10°C) to 104°F (40°C).

Suggested mounting height of 7.5ft illuminates 1 footcandle (FC) spaced at 18ft for a 3ft path of egress.

Disclosure:
Spacing is measured in lab condition with an assumed open space,
no obstruction and reflection rates of 80 (ceiling) / 50 (walls) / 20 (floor).
Actual spacing may vary depending on what environment the fixture is installed
in.
Self-Testing Option
Continuously monitors the AC power, battery supply voltage, emergency lamp and charging circuit. The multi-color LED indicator light will indicate failure and adjust when it has been corrected. Unit will automatically perform NFPA required monthly and annual testing. Refer to user manual for details.
Remote Head Capable Option
The remote head capability option allows the EL-2 unit to supply power to up to two additional 3.6V LED remote heads. The remote heads would then operate on the same emergency mode as the standard units (see Emergency Operation Section).
Electrical Components
Dual voltage input 120/277 VAC operation. LED display indicates AC/ON. An external push button test switch allows maintenance personnel to quickly determine the operational status of the unit. Unit offers surge protected, solid state circuitry. 220V/50Hz option available as well but only on the standard battery backup model.
Installation
The EL-2 is suitable for wall or ceiling mount. Snap together design allows for quick and easy installation. Conduit mount knockout on back plate only.

The only knockouts on these units are for mounting the unit. The units are retrofitted when applying the cord.

The ELCEL-2 is damp location rated. It is not wet listed. It is not recommended to install this unit in a location where it may be exposed to the elements.

Are the LED lamps illuminated only when the power fails? Or are they also illuminated from wall power when power is available. Or are they switchable between these two modes?

The lights will only come on when power is lost. IF there is power to the unit, the lights will remain off.

Can you suggest an LED emergency light for mounting to the ceiling that is 14 feet high? The instructions for EL-W2 say 8 feet maximum.

I recently purchased a few of the EL-W2 lights. The specs show either 120 or 277 volts. Is it OK to operate it with 240volts?
