Construction
The EL-BEDT is built with a durable, fully gasketed fiberglass housing rated for NEMA 4 and 4X, providing excellent protection against harsh environments. Its hinged front access panel ensures easy installation and hassle-free maintenance. The unit includes four integrated mounting holes for secure and accurate wall installation. Remote lamp loads connect to the emergency power supply via robust terminal connectors, accommodating larger gauge wires for enhanced installation flexibility. The MR16 NEMA 4X SEA heads are made of sealed die-cast aluminum, effectively preventing moisture infiltration and ensuring reliable performance.
Emergency Operation
Upon failure of the normal utility power, a solidstate transfer switch automatically provides uninterrupted emergency operation for at least 90 minutes. The battery is protected from deep discharge through the use of a low voltage disconnect circuit. Upon resumption of the normal utility power the battery is disconnected from the load and recharged through a solid-state charging circuit. Emergency lighting unit features a fully automatic pulse charger designed to recharge the battery within 24 hours.
Battery - Battery Backup
The EL-BEDT is designed with a maintenance free, sealed valve regulated lead acid battery that provides a minimum emergency duration of 90 minutes. Recharge time of the battery is 48 hours. The maximum battery operating temperature is +104°F and the minimum is +50°F without internal heater option, with the internal heater the minimum operating temperature is -4°F.

Self-Testing Option
The EL-BEDT self-testing system ensures compliance with fire code requirements by performing automatic monthly 5-minute discharge tests and semi-annual 90-minute discharge tests. These tests verify full battery capacity and recharge capability. Maintenance personnel are informed of system status through a single, intuitive multi-color LED indicator. Additionally, the system is available with optional time delay settings of 0, 5, 10, or 20 minutes, allowing HID lighting to restrike before emergency lighting is fully engaged. Refer to user manual for more details.
Electrical Components
The EL-BEDT features a high-efficiency two-stage charger that ensures precise float voltage control and includes low-voltage disconnect protection. All circuit components are temperature compensated for optimal performance. The charger is equipped with built-in safeguards, including brownout and short circuit protection. A dual diagnostic LED display provides clear indicators for AC/ON and High Charge status. Additionally, an external push-button test switch enables maintenance personnel to quickly assess the unit's operational status and verify lamp load functionality.
Installation
The EL-BEDT NEMA Rated Light is suitable for surface wall mounting and includes integrated mounting feet to ensure proper, secure and accurate wall or ceiling installation onto most surfaces.
